A congratulatory gathering to award the Faculty Meritorious Award, class parade trophies and class gifts. The ceremony closes with the Senior Handshake, a symbol of Union camaraderie in which the 50th ReUnion Class welcomes the Class of 2017 into the alumni body. Convocation is immediately followed by a chimes concert.

Planting Carrots at the Octopus Garden
Join the students, faculty and staff that maintain Octopus's Garden to plant the carrot crop. The crops produced from this organic community vegetable garden are donated to the Ozone Cafe and to Campus Kitchens, which prepares meals for the City Mission of Schenectady. Cancelled in the event of rain.

Kelly Adirondack Center Exhibit Opening
Stop by the Kelly Adirondack Center to learn more about this historic building and Union College’s Adirondack Initiative. Also view the new exhibition, “Parts But Little Known: Maps of the Adirondacks from 1556,” which takes a fascinating look at growing awareness of the region and what the mapmakers thought about the potential of the Adirondacks. It highlights the rich collections of the Adirondack Research Library, from Verplanck Colvin’s reports accompanied by illustrations documenting the trials of the surveying crews, to more than a century’s worth of maps meant to advertise the region to tourists. In addition, the center's staff has developed programs that focus on educating the Union community and the larger public community about issues impacting the Adirondacks.
